Who was Rosa Parks?

Rosa Parks, as she thought was just an ordinary

person. Her skin colour was black so she was treated differently although it took over 7 years

to work that out when her family took her to

public buildings.

Her Childhood

Rosa Parks was born on the 4th February 1913.

When she got older, she started working on her

family's farm. Her Grandpa enjoyed sleeping on the

decking or telling Rosa stories. She thought the world

was simple.

Getting Older

Only now at 7 years old, was she noticing different things. She started noticing that different coloured people had to line up in different lines to a theatre or black people had to stand at the bus stop whilst white could sit on the bench and that they had to use different bathrooms and water fountains to the white people.

Adult Life

Now, Rosa had a job so she had to take the bus to work. During her lifetime, she had many different jobs. To get to her jobs though, she had to take the bus. However, the white people had to sit at the front of the bus and the black people had to sit at the back of the bus. However, if the back of the bus was full but the front wasn't, if a black person came on, they weren't allowed to sit at the front of the bus, but if it was the other way round, the white people were allowed to sit at the back of the bus. If all of the bus was full and a white person came on, a black person would have to give up their seat to them and stand. Rosa Parks had to do this many times.
