The Picnic: Good
Or Bad?
There's snow, delicate snow drifting upon the concrete. Barney bursts outside as quick as
he can and lowers himself down, flat making a snow angel. Then he remembers that he isn't wearing a coat or jacket, but surprisingly enough, he doesn't feel the coldness (let alone the numbness). The early morning sun, still waking up, stretches it's shining streaks across the fair sky.
Abruptly he's interrupted with a sudden shake and a harsh force against his shoulders. Lou stood before him. "Alright, come on Barney. It's already twelve thirty! Mum's waiting for you to come down. So brush your teeth, get dressed and by the way, HURRY UP!" she exclaims. Barney blinks back the fright and stares at her blankly. Not long after Lou leaves the room, he yawns simultaneously with the birds' sweet, intricate song. When he completes Lou's exact instructions, he descends silently down the stairs. Luckily no one notices him, so he grabs his parker and yanks on his boots. He creeps slowly into the kitchen and swiftly stuffs a cotton sack with a few snack items.
As Barney skipps along the passage, he yells,, "Mum I'm going to Granny's!" Once he slams the door, quite loudly, he runs adjacent to the pavement. Eventually once he gets there, he politely greeted his grandmother. After he accomplishes the task, he asked if he could go to the Chalk-pit. (Obviously) she agrees for him to go, but not for long. He already reaches Stig in a few moments because - quite frankly - he rushes and urges to have his fun day out with Stig. Unfortunately for Stig, Barney grabs him foolishly and weakly by his wrist and hops up to the endless fields. Barney carefully lays out the old blanket, that he kept in mind to bring. Stig looks mindlessly at his friend,, expressionless. Barney just sits straight down and, for Stig to understand,, he kindly makes patting gestures on the sheet. Gentle rain starts to spill from under the sky. A warm breeze softly trails against the ground. A little while after the two boys eat their delightful picnic, Barney suggests that they go for a walk.. So on their walk, Stig is taken by suprise about the world outside the Chalk-pit. He seems amazed about the wonderful wonders of the earth.
Back at Granny's house, Barney's mum and sister comes over. After Lou's grandmother welcomes each of them, her mother wonders where Barney is, so she pulls out her thoughts into word form and asks granny. "I'm sorry dear, he's not here, he's gone off to the Chalk-pit with his friend 'Stig' probably."
"Okay then that's alright he'll be back soon," Barney's mum replies. One more time back to Barney and Stig, outside where they are standing, Stig prances around in the mysterious brown, soft substance. Barney explains that the mysterious brown, soft substance is MUD. Stig grins his same old smile, which Barney can never understand. They reach a water fountain and both seem very thirsty. Stig circles the water
