Water evaporates from the surface of the Earth. Warm air rises up in the sky. The air cools as it goes higher and a fog is created. To have a thunderstorm the clouds have to be very large. These are called Cumulus clouds. At the top of the clouds it is so cold that crystals are formed. For a thunderstorm to appear there should be a separation of electric charge. The smaller droplets have a positive electric charge but larger droplets have a negative charge. This creates an electric voltage that transforms into

lightning. Lightning will always appear before the sound because light travels faster than sound. One should avoid staying behind a tree or underwater because you can die.
