Saint George and the Dragon

Long, long ago

A valiant Knight came riding by

a majestic city with walls so high.

Outside the gates he saw a maiden

As beautiful as the golden sun

But so dismayed was he to learn

That her life would soon be done.

A fearful dragon ravaged the kingdom

And when nought was left to eat

It turned to the city

And oh, what a pity!

On the young lovely maidens it feast

Now was the king's daughter's turn

To meet this dreadful fate

And while she was weeping

The beast came creeping

And belched a blazing flame

So George took aim with his mighty sword

And charged onhis powerful steed

With a thunderous voice

"Saint Michael!" he called

One thrust and he vanquished the beast.

With their princess saved, the kingdom rejoiced

But Saint George refused any treasure

To do what was right

Was his purpose in life

As a true and brave Knight should ever.
