Facts about elephants


  1. Elephants are the largest living animal on land. They have a long trunk, huge head, flat flexible big ears and four thick columnar legs.

 

  1. Elephants are grayish to brown in colour, and their body hair is sparse and coarse.Their skin are 2.5 centimetres thick and it is wrinkled so it helps them to cool down.


  1. Elephants grow between 2.5 and 4 meters tall at the shoulder and weigh 2,268 to 6,350 kilograms therefore the biggest was 4 meters high and weighed 11,000 kilograms.


  1. Elephants eat around 130 kilograms of leaves , grass and fruit per day.


  1. They have a long lasting life, can swim for six hours and sleep for three to four hours a day.


  1. They are also scared of bees.
