Next week our learning theme will be the secondary colours ‘Purple & Green’.

To explore the colour green

the children will be making

apple cake using the fruit from

Mrs Stevens’ apple

tree that is over 100 years old. The children will also explore how to make the colours purple

and green by mixing the

primary colours, in addition to many other exciting activities.

For the challenge this week we would like your child to find out about the different varieties of apples that there are. This could be through a visit to the local supermarket, green grocers or farmers market. Please encourage your child to look at the colours of the apple skins and find out about the names that they have. We will be talking about the apples we have found out about in a circle time next week. Please also find out about fruit and vegetables that are purple. Do let us know what your child finds out by posting on the blog, as we will use this to support the children in the circle time discussion.

We can confirm the date for the Maths Stay & play/workshop is: Wednesday 2nd November.
