Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl was born on the 13th September 1916

Llandalf,Cardiff.He loved chocolate,but not chocolate-

cake or chocolate ice-cream.He wrote the screenplays

for chitty chitty bang bang and the bond movie you-

only live twice. He did not start writing for children

until he had his own.He based the grandmother in"The

Three Witches"on his own mother.He had two steel hips and six operations on his spine.His books were publeshed in 4 different laungesges.

The books that he wrote are called The BFG,Charlie and the

chocolate factory,The Witches,Fantastic Mr fox,Matilda,James

and the giant peach,Geoge's Marvelous medicine,The TWITS,

Danny the champion of the world,The giraffe,the pelly and me,

Charlie and the chocolate factory,Charlie and the great glass

elevator,The magic finger,Boy tales of childhood,Going Solo and

Esio Trot.

He always wrote in pencil on yellow paper.

He died on the 23rd November 1990.He wrote

all of his children's stories in a small hut at the

bottom of his garden.He was a fighter pilot

during world war II.He wrote 21 books for

children-including picture books,novels and

poetry collections-and over 50 stories for adults,

most famously collected as tales of the unexpected

James and the giant peach was nearly called James and the giant cherry.He didn't like going to the cinema or the theater because his legs were so long that he found the seats very uncomfortable.
