Year 4 Project - Rain Forest

Q Name the four layers of the rain forest.

1, Emergent layer

2, Canopy layer

3, Understory layer

4, Forest floor

Q Climate in each layer.

Emergent layer is hot from the sun, but also get lots of rain and string winds.

Canopy layer is bright,hot,tropical.

Under story layer is humid and damp.

Forest floor dark,humid and wet.

Q Plants that can be found in each layer:

Emergent layer the tress are very tall.

Canopy layer there are climbing plants like vines that cover the trees and orchid and hemiepiphytes flowers.

Understory layer has young trees and shrubs.

Forest floor, they are mushrooms and moss.

Owen this is great but try and physically make this using a shoe box - then you can really get a good idea about how the different layers work
