DINOSAUR PLANET

HOME LEARNING - Summer 2- Week 4 w/b 22nd June 2020

We are looking forward to welcoming some of you into school again for our second week. If you are working at home then please continue to work hard and send some photos and let me know how you are getting on this week. 

ENGLISH

*Task 1 - Click on the link and watch the clip called
 'Bubbles' on Literacy Shed.
If you were to find a bottle of magic bubbles and you
could fly anywhere in the world, then where would you 
go to and why? Complete a 'Where would you like to go
in your bubble?' worksheet. Draw a picture and write a 
description of the place you would like to go. Use full 
sentences with a capital letter to start and a full stop to
finish. (This work will be completed in school)

Task 2 - Click on the link and listen to the Dinosaur
poems. Which is your favourite? Tell me on the blog. 
You could choose to write and illustrate the poem in 
your best writing. Can you find a Dinosaur poem and
 write it on the blog for your friends to enjoy. Try 
learning 'I'm a Diplodocus' and perform it to your
family. Add some actions!

Task 3 - Dinosaur Riddles. Can you write a riddle and ask a family 
member to guess which dinosaur you are thinking of ? Start with 
'Who am I?' Write 3 or 4 clues in simple sentences. Read each clue
in turn and see if they can name the dinosaur. You could make a lift
the flap book and reveal your dinosaur!

Task 4 - Choose the 3* super sentences worksheet.
Put in capital letters and full stops to complete the
sentences.

Task 5 - Put in the correct punctuation in the
sentences. Does it need a full stop, question mark or exclamation
mark. Choose your level 1*, 2* or 3*.

Task 6 - Complete the Sunflower reading comprehension answering
 the questions in full sentences.

MATHS

Task 1 - Complete a dinosaur themed challenge card. Record 
your answers on paper.

Task 2 - Play BBC Bitesize Karate Cats Addition and Subtraction
Games. Choose your level Bronze, Silver or Gold. Have
fun!

Task 3 - Practice your addition and subtraction skills in this booklet.
If you are unable to print out you can have the pages up on the screen
and complete the calculations on paper. You can use counters, a 
number line, counting on or back strategies to help.

*Task 4 - Complete a Ronald the Rhino addition to
20 - colour by numbers activity.

Task 5 - Complete a Dinosaur Colour by numbers
worksheet.

Task 6 - Ask your Mum or Dad to say a number between 1 and 100. 
Can you say the number that is 1 more or 1 less. Choose another number
and say the number that is 10 more or 10 less. 

The * activities in blue will be covered in school so for those
children in on Monday and Tuesday / Thursday and Friday please leave.

SCIENCE AND PE

HISTORY

Task - Using the prehistoric dinosaur pictures, draw a dinosaur 
landscape. What will you include? A desert? Rocks? A Forest? The 
sea? You could draw a dinosaur to cut out and stick onto your 
landscape. Now draw a landscape you might see today. Will it include
houses, trees, flowers, cars, people etc. Now compare them and 
﻿discuss the differences. Write any differences down.

ART

Task 1 -  Choose your favourite dinosaur and use collage materials to make 
your dinosaur.

Task 2 - Make a dinosaur stick puppet. Choose a dinosaur,
colour it and cut it out. Put it on a lolly stick. Make another 
one and role play a conversation your dinosaurs might have.

Task 3 - Design and make a party game for you and your friends with a dinosaur
theme.

MUSIC

Task - Listen to the music by the composer John 
Williams from the theme tune to 'Jurassic Park.' Click
on the picture to listen.
Did you enjoy it? What instruments did you hear? How
did the music make you feel? What do you think a 
composer does? What is your favourite music?

PHONICS

Continue to play the games on www.newphonicsplay.co.uk practising Phases
 2, 3 and 5. Read the Tricky Word Trucks game and the Reading Robot game. 
Try the Phonic Games on BBC Bitesize in the English KS1 section.

﻿Why not read a comic on www.phonicsplaycomics.co.uk? You can
revise your phonic knowledge by reading comics - choose your
level and off you go.

Read a book everyday. Choose one of your own books 
or select an ebook from Get Epic or Oxford Owl.
Write a book review to tell me about the book. How
many stars would you give it?

SPELLING

Continue to work on your spellings following the weekly programme using the look, cover, write and check technique. You will find the lists in the home learning section in Week 1.

Learn to spell the first 6 months of the year January, February, March, April, May and June. Use look, cover, write and check.
Can you write today's date in full. Monday 22nd June 2020
