The Titanic

The Titanic was a strong, luxurious ship and supposedly 'un-sinkable'.

On the 15th of April1912 the Titanic

set sail from Southampton on

it's trip to Ney York .It had 2200 passengers!

Passengers were separated into 1st, 2nd and 3rd class accommodation. Amongst the 1st class were actors and millionaires who paid up to £870 (equal to about £75000 today)

The captain ,Edward John Smith, was warned about the icebergs on the 14th of April but he paid no atention to it.

2 hours after the captain was

warned the lookout reported an

iceberg strait ahead!

After hitting the iceberg,

The Titanic sank killing

1500 people .

Only 750 people survived.
