The African Elephants

Today I am going to tell you about elephants. The elephants that I am going to speak about live in Africa.

Elephants grow to 3-4 meters high at the shoulder. They weigh 5-7.5 tonnes. The biggest weight of an elephant ever recorded is 27,000 pounds. The colour of the elephants is grey. They live for about 60-70 years. They are mammals and so they are warm blooded. They have flappy ears and a tiny tail. Did you know that elephants can swim ? Yes, they know how to swim, too. They get food by using their trunks and they spend a lot to time eating.

Elephants might be in danger, too. There are fewer than 600,000 elephants in the world. This is because they are getting hunted and killed for their tusks. I hope that you liked reading about elephants.
