Mollusca - Snail

Mollusca are invertebrates. Invertebrates are animals which do not have a backbone. Some characteristics of invertebrates are the following:


  1. Invertebrates have more than one cell.
  2. They are usually small, slow-moving animals.
  3. Invertebrates do not have well developed brains.
  4. They have a simple nervous system.


Characteristics of Snail:

  1. Soft bodied invertabrates with bilateral symmetry.
  2. Usually protected by a calcareous shell.
  3. Snails are mainly composed of water.
  4. A snail cannot levitate its shell. It carries its shell wherever it goes

Snails are found in different parts of the world such as gardens, ponds, under stones and even in sea. They tend to feed on a variety of items found in their natural habitat. They feed on leaves and stems of plant. Snails are very healthy to eat. They are a fantastic and delicious food with serious superfood credentials. Snails contain lots of proteins.
