You will firstly need to read the 'Minibeast Poem' in the Year 2 Summer learning 2020 link.

TASK: Look carefully at the rhyming words. Can you think of any other words 
which rhyme with them. Write them down.
TASK: Using your rhyming words and the rhyming words from last week 
see if you can write your own rhyming poem about minibeasts. 
Task: When you are happy with your draft write or type your poem and 
include pictures.
TASK: Complete the Minibeast comprehension (There are 3 levels of difficulty)

TASK: Click on the Karate Cats link. Choose any of the
topics ( it covers a lot) and play the game. It has three
different levels of challenge and great for revision.
TASK: Make two 2 digit numbers by rolling a dice 4
times eg 45 and 21
Practise subtracting the smaller one from the
bigger one eg 41 - 21 Use the counting back strategy
SEE EXAMPLE BELOW.
TASK: Revise how to tell the time. Click on the clock:
(o'clock, half past, quarter past, quarter to)
TASK: Complete clock activity 1 and 2.
TASK: Make the clock using the template in the
documents section and practise making different times
TASK: Complete Ben's numbers.
TASK: Click on the link below and complete the daily
BBC Bitesize maths lesson. You will need to go onto
Year 2 and the date that you are doing this activity.

TASK: Practise different ways of passing a ball. See examples. How many can you do
of each pass without dropping it? Can you beat your score over a few days.
TASK: Design your own obstacle course (with an adult's permission)
TASK: Can you make up a dance to your favourite piece of music?

TASK: Practise singing the minibeast words to the tune of 'Heads, Shoulders Knees and Toes'
TASK: Perform the song to someone and see if you can add actions.
TASK: Make up your own 
minibeast song, practise and perform it.

TASK: Look at the minibeast powerpoint. Talk to someone about the different places you would find minibeasts.
TASK: Look in your garden or on a walk ( with an adult) for different homes (micro-habitats) that minibeasts might be found.
TASK: With an adult or with their permission, go on a minibeast hunt. What do you find? Where did you find them?
TASK: Present your minibeast findings in a way of your choice....poster, jit5 blog... What microhabitats did you come across?
What minibeasts did you find? How many of each? Why do they live where they do? Add as much detail as you can.

ART and DESIGN

TASK: Build a junk model minibeast. Ask an adult for some 
recycling material if they have some eg old boxes, cartons,
 packets ...See if you can build your own minibeast using the 
junk! Design it first though.

SPELLING

On the pupil section of our school website - click on year 2 summer home learning. You will find a common exception word document.

TASK: Ask someone to test you on the words you practised last week and on
a few more from the year 1 and 2 common exception word list.
Make a poster to practise any words that you cannot spell.
TASK: Complete another proof reading activity which can be found within the
same document.

TABLES/ NUMBER BONDS

It is really important to keep practising your tables (x2, x5, 10 first and then you can try and learn the others) and number bonds to and within 10,20,100. 

TASK: Play Hit the Button or J2 Blast (on J2E) Practise your number bonds and tables.
TASK: Make a number bond or tables poster to help you learn them.
TASK: Can you make up a song to help you learn one of your tables?
