Hello Year 6,

FINANCE:
Plan a holiday in the school holidays with a budget of £5,000

PSHE: Learning objectives: be aware of my own self-image and how my body image fits into that and know how to develop my own self esteem.

Task: Sometimes we compare ourselves to others on social media or celebrities. However a lot of the time these images aren't real. They are airbrushed, or using filters to change the appearance. What we see online may not always be a true perception. In addition, celebrities have professional teams to work on their appearance and
have a lot more money to spend on clothes etc. This is unrealistic for the majority of people. If someone disliked their body image because they were comparing themselves this could affect their mental health and physical health.

TASK: Create a poster promoting self love! Encourage people not to compare themselves to others! Include other tips or advice to help people e.g. saying nice things about ourselves, focusing on the positives rather than the negatives, remembering the world would be boring if we were all the same, difference is good!

Use cardboard boxes or recycled plastic milk cartons to construct a large-scale igloo. Find ways to join boxes sturdily enough for them to support an entrance doorway. Take photographs of the process and either email them to me or upload them to your blog.

TASK: Read a range of specialist polar travel brochures and websites, making a list of activities available and special things to see on a polar trip. Write an imaginary postcard as if on a polar holiday, telling someone at home about their exciting, icy activities!
Note: Consider what aspects of tourism could threaten the environment. The IAATO Guidance and recommendations for eco-friendly travel and tourism will be helpful resources for this task.
