Ancient Greece
History
About 2,500 years ago the Greek empire was in power.
They were the most intelligent human beings that had ever lived. The Greeks were great thinkers,
warriors, writers, actors, athletes, artists, architects and politicians.
They had control over Italy, Sicily, Turkey, North Africa and as far west as France.
People have been living in Greece for over 40,000 years.
The earliest settlers
mostly lived a simple hunter-gatherer or farming lifestyle. They didn't just live in
the main land Greece but on the nearby land of Crete. They were known as the minoans after their legendary king, MINOS. They were fine builders and traders, also great soldiers.
