DINOSAUR PLANET

HOME LEARNING - Summer 2- Week 3 w/b 15th June 2020

Mrs Brook and I are looking forward to welcoming some of you back to school this week. If you are not returning then please continue to work hard and send some photos and let me know how you are getting on this week. 

ENGLISH

Task 1 - Complete the dinosaur writing activity using the
 word bank to write some sentences about the dinosaur 
pictures. Choose your level 1*, 2* or 3*. Alternatively find
a picture of your own dinosaur and write some sentences
about it. 

Task 2 - ﻿Choose the Terrific T-Rex or How to look after a 
Dinosaur Egg comprehension. Read
the text and answer the questions.

Task 3 - Click on the book and listen
to the story of 'Katie and the Dinosaurs'
By James Mayhew. Do you remember 
the story 'Katie goes to London' in our
Bright Lights, Big City' topic? Katie and
Grandma go on a new adventure!! 
Enjoy!

Task 4 - What will Katie say to her Grandma about her day with the dinosaurs? Write the conversation that they might have. 

Task 5 - Imagine you could talk to a dinosaur. What would you say to them? How might they respond? Write your ideas. Remember to use a capital letter to start and a full stop to end.

SCIENCE

MATHS﻿

Task 1 - Fill in the missing numbers 1 to 100 on a blank jungle
themed 100 square. *

Task 2 - Complete the missing number jigsaws taken from a 
100 square. (Missing Numbers to 100 and Place value puzzles)

Task 3 - Click on the link below from BBC Bitesize Maths and
 learn about the place value of different numbers. Take the quiz.

READING

Read a book everyday. Use the Get Epic and Oxford Owl sites or choose books you have at home to read and share.

PHONICS

Continue to play the games on www.newphonicsplay.co.uk practising Phases 2, 3 and 5. Play the Flashcards Sped Trial and Time Challenge games. Try the Phonic Games on BBC Bitesize in the English KS1 section.There are also lots of resources on Twinkl to support phonics. 
Read a comic on www.phonicsplaycomics.co.uk. You can revise your phonic knowledge by reading comics - choose your level and off you go.

Task 4 - Click on the Karate Cats link and choose 
Number and Place Value. Play the games to 
practise your skills. 

Task 5 - Complete the tens and ones, arrow cards
 partioning and 2 digit partitioning practice
 worksheets. *

Task 6 - Please continue to work on your number bonds to 10
 and 20. 

The * activities in blue will be covered in school so for those
staring back on Monday and Tuesday / Thursday and Friday please leave.

HISTORY

Task 1 - Look at the powerpoint 'Mary Anning' and learn about who this lady
was. Learn about her contribution in history to help us know about dinosaurs 
through her fossil hunting. 
Task 2 - Read the factfile about Mary Anning and try to produce your own
factfile about her life.

ART

﻿

Task 1 - Make your own sock puppet. Make a Sockasurus Rex. 
Find an old clean sock and create your dinosaur with collage
materials.﻿
Task 2 - Make a dinosaur mask. Choose your favourite dinosaur,
colour it in. Cut it out. Attach elastic and role play!

Task 3 - Join the dots and colour in a dot to dot 
﻿dinosaur.

SPELLING

Continue to work on your spellings following the weekly programme using
the look, cover, write and check technique. You will find the lists in the
home learning section in Week 1. 
Choose 5 words from the Y1 common exception words (use the dinosaur)
and make up a sentence to write for each word. Remember to use a
capital letter to start and a full stop to finish.
