Food Chains.
A food chain refers to the order of events in an ecological system, where one living organism eats another organism and later that organism is eaten by another one. In a food chain, the arrows are used to show the feeding relationship between the organisms. The arrow points to the organism being eaten to the organism that eats it. In short they mean 'eaten by'. Arrows are a symbol of strength and bravery. A food chain starts with the primary source of energy for the organisms and this is usually the sun. The energy of sunlight is used by the organism for example plants, to self sustain. The producers make up the first level of every food chain and they make up their own food.
A food chain ends with a consumer, an animal that eats a plant or another animal.
This is an example of a food chain.
