Step 1: First, there are many living animals growing together.

Step 2: Second of all, each animal makes a hard wall around it.

Step 3: Then the animals die.

Step 4: The hard wall is left behind.

Step 5: Another animal grows on top.

Step 6: Finally, the coral grows bigger and taller.

Coral reefs look like underwater gardens.

They look like small plants and bushes.

They are not plants.

They are tiny animals.

They are very colourful.
