Anglo Saxons

Who they were and where they came from

Anglo Saxons, who came from Germany, Denmark and Netherlands, invaded England in AD 449. They were very tough warriors known as the Jutes, Angles and Saxons.

Food and Drink

Food

1. Fruit - Such as apples, berries and plums
2. Fish - The Anglo Saxons caught fish in rivers and seas with spears
3. Animals - Such as wild pigs who lived in the forest with deer

Drink

1. Beer - The Anglo Saxons knew the water wasn't clean so they decided to drink beer instead. But the children were given the weakest just like they are not allowed beer today.
2. Mead - sometimes without beer they drank mead. It is a type of beer made from honey

Houses

The houses were made from straw, wood and animal droppings. Each tribe had one little hut to sleep and entertain their friends and family in.

They had a single room for the fire that made light, heating and for cooking.

Viking invaders

The Vikings invaded the Anglo Saxons because they wanted more land. When they had won the Anglo Saxons left but some would just not leave because they had settled down and they liked the weather there.

Fun fact

they had multiple blacksmiths

to make their weapons.
