6AM: I left the house on my own, wrapped up in my warmest coat (which I wear every day) to make the 3km trip. I met up with other children from my village, and we huddled together beneath the mountain to keep warm, waiting for the last couple of stragglers to arrive. As soon as we were all together, two of the dads put their sledges and emergency packs on their backs, and we set off for school…

Can you write a diary entry for one of these children, describing their journey to school?

Dear Diary,

I woke up at 6am ready for another 3km journey to school.I wrapped myself up in my warmest coat which I wear everyday since its -40 ,if we are lucky enough-20.I sat down and huddled under a mountain with the others to keep warm while we waited for everyone to arrive.Usually ,there would be twenty of us including our parents. During the first days of my school ,i found it very difficult to walk for an hour in the cold, but i got used to it and now find it fun as i can now talk to my friends since i have had practice.

The scenery from the mountains is really nice but all of us have to be careful of the wild animals we might encounter while we are walking.Usually, two of the dads come with their sledges carrying emergency packs in case we get hurt.

Thankfully, we arrived at school safely and right on time.
