Micro-society: Currency
Week 2
Micro-society
Currency
Dear Diary,
According to the Internet, the meaning of currency is a system of money used in a particular country. This week we played Monopoly and we had think wisely about how we spent our money. We also had to buy buildings and places to win the game. It would've made a difference if we had more time to play because we would be able to buy more buildings and earn more money.
Next, we brought in foreign currencies to school and looked at all of them. We talked about what we could see on them such as pictures of famous people and serial numbers. We read another story about Justenuf and they started using nutri-bags(the type of food they had)and seeds as a currency. Then we discussed if this was a good idea or not.
Finally, we worked in pairs and created our own currency. On our tables, we voted for the best currency and then had a vote for the best currency. There were five options to pick from.
After the vote, our teacher told us that all the currencies were great, so something from each note was picked out, to go on the real note for our society.
This week, during micro-society I have had a lot of fun. I am looking forward to what we are doing next.
