Dear diary,
Earlier this week I went to the British wildlife centre with my nan , brother (Isaac) , cousin ( Erin )and my aunty San . Firstly , we parked in the second car park across the rough , gravely road . Afterwards we slowly walked into the main entrance . While my nan and aunt were paying we , my cousin, my brother and I , quietly looked at some harvest mice in a shiny ,metal cage .
Next we walked through where the rats and mice were located . Tunnels spread across the dusty room so the small , fluffy creatures could go from one cage to another . We excitedly moved onwards where the voles and pine martens were also terrapins ! When I got to the terrapins open cage I was surprised to see only one of them (and a frog ) , he was sat on a small ,wooden log perfectly still . He (well I didn't know its gender ) had long ,murky green stripes that stretched across his neck , arms , legs and face .
After this we went to see the snakes my nan hates snakes so she kept her distance . There were 6 snakes all of them with a unique pattern . One of the snakes was a baby however all of them were curled up in a pile . We moved onto the wildcats the creatures were amazing and just like the tabby cats you get at home . Their full name is 'Scottish wild cats ' and there are only 35 pure wildcats in the world ! These cats are very aggressive and could take a mans eye out !
One of my best parts was the owl display there were 4 owls out of the 7 owls that they displayed . The greatest owl was the eagle owl her name was Ethel . The guide explained that in the owl world females are larger than the males so Ethel will be the largest owl you ever see ! My cousin and I sat on the grass by one of the stands the owls fly to . Ethel had a wingspan of 1 metre and her great , brown wing skimmed the top of my head . Although owls may seem lazy they love flying however the owls were being stubborn and sometimes would not fly to the guides .
