Bugatti EB 110 SS

Hey guys, I am back for more new exciting cars. Today i will be telling you about my dream car, the one i want... THE BUGATTI EB 110 SS. Maybe at the end you will realise a secret and as your reading you will learn alot of stuff that you never discovered BTW when you grow up to buy one and don't use it i will be coming for you!!!!

When Bugatti, one of the motor industry's most famous and revered names, was acquired by Italian businessman Romano Artioli in 1987. He announced ambitious plans to produce the most technically sophisticated supercar in the world had ever seen. Artioli employed Marcello Gandin (Who made the Lambourghini Countach) and Mauro Forghier (One of the most famous racing car engineers) to head up the devolopment team. Between them, they came up with a stunning mid engined design powered by a 60-value 3,449 cc V12 with four turbochargers to boost the power output to a peak of 560 bhp! That gave the new car, The Bugatti EB 110,

acceleration from 0-62 in 4.2 second and a top speed of

213/km, which was absoulutely outstanding in that time

and truly worthy of a Bugatti name ( Incidentally, the car

was named after the companys founder, Ettore Bugatti-

his initials plus the number of years since his birth.)

The Bugatti EB 110 had a carbon-fibre monocoque

chassis manufactured by the French aeronautics company

Aerospatiale, which had learnt about the material in

devoloping its rockets. This in itself set the EB110 apart

from any car that had gone before it was the first to use this construction technique. The body was composed of aluminum panels bonded to the monocoque and unusually it incorparated a glass panel over the engine so owners could view the bespoke powerplant. Foward lifting scissor doors ensured a small piece of theatre every

time the car was parked, though on the

road the view most people had was of

the back of the car with its speed

sensitive rear wing.

The EB110 was launched in 1991 but just a

year later it was improved futher in the

EB110 SS (Supersport) model which was

introduced at a price of £281,00. This car

was lighter and produced even more

power (up to 603 bhp). The result was a

slightly higher top speed of 217 mph/349,

but unmarkedly quicker acceleration

through the six speed gearbox: 0-62 mph

now took a mere 3.2 seconds. The

Supersport retained the EB110 four wheel

drive system , but the aluminum bonnet, engine cover and venturi undertray were replaced with even lighter carbon fibre panels, the wheels were changed from aluminium alloy to magnesium, and the moveable rear wing became a fix unit. The extra power had been squeezed out of the engine by installing bigger injectors and revized electronic control unit, and two of the energy catalytic converters in the exhast. On the open road, the EB110 SS was even more extreme than the EB110. Indeed, it was so outstanding that F1 champion Michael Schumacher bought one for himself and kept it for many years even after he moved to become a Ferrari driver.

Secret >... Sadly, Artioli's dream wouldnt last long. He over extended himself by developing a four-door EB112 model, and at the same time, he bought the British company Lotus. Bankruptcy followed in 1995, which brought to an end the production of the might EB110 after only 139 had been built. Volkswagen Group bought the rights to the Bugatti marquee in the late 1990s, but the original EB110 remains one of the rarest and finest supercars ever made...
