Ragdoll cat

Scottish Fold cats, which have gotten their name because of their folded ears, is a kind-tempered, sweet-natured, extremely loving cat. Everything about this dear cat is as sweet as sugar from it's wide, cute eyes to its round head to its adorable expression. They can adapt to different environments and although they are very quiet themselves, don't mind noisy, busy homes. The lifespan is 11-15 years, the weight ranges from 2.5 to 6kg and they come in different colours and patterns.

British shorthair cats are known for their easygoing temperament and sturdy physique. These cats are from the UK and are recognised for their strong stature which makes them gentle and playful family pets. This breed has thick, plush coats in a range of colours but 'colourpoint', 'tabby' and 'tortoiseshell' patterns are quite common in hues of cream, black and white. They require little grooming and enjoys interaction. They are famous for their calm nature causing them to be suitable to live with children or pets.

This breed is called a Ragdoll cat. The name: Ragdoll is derived from the tendency of individuals from the original breeding stock to go calm and relaxed when being picked up. The breed is popular in both the United States and the UK; they have a distinct colourpoint coat and blue eyes, they're large and weighty and they have semi-long and silky soft coat. There most known feature is their meek, placid temperament and affectionate nature.

Maine Coon

The Maine Coon is a large, domesticated cat; this breed is one of the oldest natural breeds in North America where they originated in the US state of Maine and they are the official state cat. The Maine Coon is a large and social cat, which they commonly refer to as the 'gentle giant'. They are known for their size and dense coat of fur which helps them survive the harsh weather conditions of Maine. They are often sought for having dog-like characteristics.

The Persian cat is a long-haired breed with a round face and short muzzle. This selective breeding which have been carried out by the breeders has allowed them to develop a large range of colours for their coat but has also led to the creation of flat-faced Persian Cats. Though their head structure could bring them several health issues.

The American Curl cat is known for its unusual ears that curl back towards the centre of the back of the skull. This breed is from Lakewood, California. They are medium-sized cats. Kittens are usually first born with straight ears which begin to curl after around 48 hours. After 4 months, the ears don't curl any longer and they would be hard and stiff to touch at the base of the ear.

LIFESPAN

The average lifespan of a cat would most likely be around 13 to 14 years long but since their lifespan varies, a cat that has been well-cared for will commonly live up to 15 years or above and if possible, they might make it up to 18 to 20 years and a few spectacular felines manage to live from 25 to 30 years old! But that is extremely rare for a cat so you wouldn't expect to find one near your house or in a cat cafe.

SIZE

 The average size of a cat is about 46 cm- 18 in- if the length is from head to body and 23–25 cm -9.1–9.8 in- in full height and about 30 cm -12 in- for long tails. Males are larger than females. Adult domestic cats typically weigh 4–5 kg -8.8–11.0 lb-.

EXISTANCE

The Ancient Egyptians began caring for the African wildcat around as early as 4000 years ago where the Egyptians had a strong belief that cats were magical, divine and god-like. Nearly all cats, which includes lions, tigers and the domestic cat are descendants from the African wildcat. This cat developed over 10,000 years ago! This species though is not yet extinct , just prehistoric. You could find them roaming in the Savannah in the Middle East as well as Africa.

FAMILY

You've heard about the smaller cats like the British Shorthair, Ragdoll and Persian but there are bigger cats like lions, cheetahs, tigers, leopards and jaguars. Though this might sound unlikely, dogs are the closest pets to cats. Other smaller cats include the Sphinx, Siamese, Burmese, Siberian, Bombay and Somali.
