HOME LEARNING - Summer 1- Week 4 w/b 11th May 2020

PAWS, CLAWS AND WHISKERS

This week's theme is Animals.

Task 1 - Choose your favourite animal and research it. Write some
sentences to tell me about your animal. Can you write me an 
interesting fact starting with 'Did you know that...? Draw a picture
of your chosen animal to illustrste your work.

Task 2 - Read the text about Tigers. Answer the questions using
 full sentences where you can.

Task 3 - Read the story of 'The Lion and the Mouse' using the 
powerpoint. Can you use the pictures on the storyboard to retell the
story in your own words. Don't forget to use capital letters to start
your sentences and a full stop to end or a question mark.

Task 4 - Draw the picture of the lion holding the mouse and draw 
your own speech bubble. Can you write inside what you think the
mouse is saying to the lion. Next draw the lion in the net and a
speech bubble and write inside what you think the lion is saying 
to the mouse.

Task 5 - Choose an animal story of your choice and
 write a book review.

Task 6 - Can you write the name of an animal for each letter of
 the alphabet. use your phonics to help you or if you have a 
dictionary look up the spelling.

ENGLISH

PLEASE TURN OVER

MATHS

Task 1 - Make a clock using the template. Practise putting
 your clock on o'clock times. Now watch the powerpoint
 telling the time - half past. Ask an adult to give you some
 times to set your clock.

This week I would like you to focus on telling the time (o'clock and half past times) and place value work.

Task 2 - Complete pages 18 - 21 in Your Rising Stars workbook C.

Task 3 - Write and draw the hands on the clock for the times o'clock
and half past times on the activity sheet clocks.

Task 4 - Watch BBC Bitesize 'How to tell the time' clip and play the
game.

Task 5 - Complete pages 12 - 14 in your Rising Stars workbook C 
ordering and sequencing numbers to 100. You may use a 100 square
to help. Revise splitting the numbers Eg.27 into 20 (2 tens) and 7 
(7 ones/units) like we did with the arrow cards. Revise 1 more and
10 more and order numbers smallest to largest.

Task 6 - Play Karate Cats on BBC Bitesize. Select Number and Place 
Value. Choose your level Bronze, Siver or Gold and work through
the challenges!

SCIENCE AND PE

PHSE - JIGSAW

This week's focus is People 
who help us.

 Task -Talk about the people who help you. Watch the 
powerpoint 'People who help Us.' Fill in the Activity sheet 
reading the sentences and guessing which person fits with
each description or you could choose one person who helps
you. Draw them and write a sentence to say how they help you

GEOGRAPHY

Task 1- Watch the powerpoint 'All About Hot and Cold
 Countries. Have you ever been to a hot country on
 holiday? What was it like? Can you pack a suitcase
 for a holiday in a hot country and a holiday in a cold
 country? Cut and stick the clothes you might need or
 draw your own.
Task 2 - Cut and stick the animals you would find in a 
hot and cold country and sort into the correct set.

This week we are thinking about
hot and cold countries of the World

ART

Task 1 -

Task 1 - Make your own cardboard tube tiger following the
 instructions. Use the tiger templates to help you.

Task 2 - Can you make your own animal mask?

Task 3 - Choose a dot to dot animal picture. Join the dots
in order and colour in.

Task 4 - Make an animal using plasticene or playdough.

R.E

In our learnng about the Jewish festival Shabbat, prayer is
an important part of the celebration when families share
the Shabbat meal. How does it feel to share special food
together?
Task - Can you write a simple prayer to say thank you for
 what you are grateful for?

SPELLINGS

Keep on practising any of the year 1 common exception words you don't know. Also this week I would like you to work on the spellings of the days of the week.

Continue to work on your spellings following the weekly programme using the look, cover, write and check technique. You will find the lists in the home learning section in Week 1.

PHONICS

Keep playing the games on Phonics Play practising Phases 2, 3 and 5.
Try the flashcards. Can you beat your time? Can you read the real words and nonsense words on the Reading Robot game? Challenge yourself.
