HOME LEARNING - Summer 1- Week 2 w/b 27th APRIL

PAWS, CLAWS AND WHISKERS

This week's focus is 'At the Zoo'

ENGLISH

Task 1 -

Make a list of jobs that a zookeeper would need to do everyday.
Use bullet points and list each idea on a new line.
Watch the You Tube Clip to help you.

Task 2 -

Write a set of simple instructions of the jobs that the 
zookeeper would do in his day. Eg. 1. Get up early and put on his/her uniform and wellies. 2. First make up the animal food. 3. Give them fresh water to drink. 4. Clean the animal's home - sweep the poo! 4. Check the animals are happy and well and if not call the vet. etc

Task 3 -

Read the poem 'Do not Feed the Animals' by Robert Hull. Make a poster with a DO NOT FEED THE .....(choose your own animal and make up a food in the style of the poem). Draw the animal and put a red line through just like a road sign.

Task 4 - 

Complete the Who's at the Zoo? Crossword

Task 5 -

Read the text 'The Zoo Vet' and answer the questions.
 Choose from 1* easy to 3* harder.

 count on and back. 

This week's focus is addition and subtraction

Task 2 - Complete Addition and Subtraction on a number line worksheet

Task 3 -  Try some Safari themed addition and subtraction word problems.

Task 4 - Time yourself. How fast can you complete the number bond challenges?

Task 5 - Try out the Karate Cats Maths game focusing on Addition and Subtraction on

 https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize. There are lots of clips for learning and fun games to play

PSHE - JIGSAW

Relationships - This week we are thinking about friendship

Discuss with your parents: 
What is a friend?
What makes people friends?
What makes a good friend?
What do you look for in a friend?

Task - Draw a picture of yourself. Write out 'I am a good friend because.....'   Make a list of reasons why you think you are a good friend to others. 

GEOGRAPHY

Task -

Design your own zoo or wildlife park. You can use paper and pencil and crayons or build one using a construction kit. Take a photo to share with me.

Choose a tiger, giraffe or zebra colouring picture. Can you use coloured pencils, wax crayons, felt pens

Make a 3D Model using reclaimed materials of

 Festival called Shabbat.

Watch the BBC Bitesize clips 'An Introduction
 to Shabbat' and 'Celebrating Shabbat in a
 Jewish home' Discuss what you
 have found out.

          the worksheet carefully using the word bank
          to help.

SPELLINGS

On the school website in the Pupils section under Home Learning -Year 1 you will find a common exception words for year 1 and 2. Ask an adult to test you on these words. Select some of the words you make mistakes on to write again making a poster to help you remember!

Look in your Spelling book and find which week your group were working on and practice look. cover, write and check with these words to learn them. Can you write a sentence for each of these words? 

PHONICS

Use the games on Phonics Play each day to revise the Phase 2,
3 and 5 digraphs!
