PAWS, CLAWS AND WHISKERS
Our new topic in Year 1 this half term is Paws, Claws and Whiskers.
Here are a list of ideas for this week's learning. The focus is Pets:
English
Task 1- Do you have a pet? If so, can you write down some vocabulary to describe your pet thinking about it's appearance, characteristics and personality. You could draw the pet in the middle of the page and write the describing phrases around it. Eg. black, short fur, small pointed ears, cheeky, loud bark etc. (If you don't have a pet choose a pet you would like and describe it as above.)
Task 2- Write a description of your pet or the pet you would like. Use the vocabulary from task 1. Write in full sentences with a capital letter to begin each and a full stop to end. Use adjectives to describe your pet clearly. Include some sentences about how you care for your pet and what your pet needs to stay happy and healthy.
Task 3- Read and complete the comprehension 'How to look after a Dog' (You will find this on the school website in the Pupils section under Home Learning -Year 1)
Task 4- Use a pet fact file (You will find this on the school website in the Pupils section under Home Learning -Year 1)to write about the things your pet eats, where it sleeps and other interesting facts.
Task 5 - Listen to the poem 'A Cat' by Michael Rosen on you tube. Discuss the poem. Did you like it? Why? Make a list of rhyming words. Find a simple pet poem and write it out in your best handwriting using the correct cursive script. Use your handwriting card in your homework book to help you. Write on lined paper and do your very best.
