WHAT I FOUND ABOUT MAIDEN CASTLE

I found out that Maiden Castle is a Iron Age hillfort and the biggest hillfort in Europe.

It was good hillfort until the Romans attacked it and won.

It's 540 meters long and big as 50 football pitches.

It goes back 3000BC and can be seen today in Dorest.

You can also see a Roman temple foundations.

The nearest town is only a few miles away.

A tribe called the Durotriges and a leader called Vespasian tried to protect Maiden Castle.

Maiden Castle means 'Mai Dun' in celtic meaning 'Great Hill'.
