BLIZZARDS
A blizzard is a long-lasting snowstorm with very strong winds and intense snowfall. When blizzards happen, everyone is affected as people have to stay at home. Offices and schools close and streets are snow-packed. Blizzards happen when warm air rises over cold air. When warm air and cold air are brought together precipitation occurs. Warm air can also rise to form clouds and blizzard snows as it flows up a mountainside. Blizzards bring about strong winds in the cold weather which could blow up houses, cause power lines to collapse and communication systems could also go down. Blizzards can last three hours or more.
