How Much Energy do Electrical appliances use?

A television says it uses 181 watts. However, when we measured our energy output when watching a DVD it was only using 73 watts.

The iPad has an internal battery. However, when it is charging we measured its energy input as 13 watts.

A laptop charger uses 4 watts when a laptop is not connected. However, when it was charging we measured its energy input as 36 watts.

In our new home a smart meter has been installed. It helps daddy and mummy to work out how much electricity and gas we are using on a daily basis. It helps us to work out where we can save energy.
