What I did on the holidays
You all know it was Halloween yesterday and I was Frankenstein's bride! it was great fun! I went trick or treating with a few friends, I had a bucket full of sweets! Now I am going to tell you a tiny bit about Halloween!
The word 'Halloween' came from 'All Hallow's eve'. Halloween is a yearly celebration that many countries do. On the 31st of October people dress in scary costumes, ring on doorbells and shout 'TRICK OR TREAT!' then they either get tricked or they get a treat! :D Halloween is to celebrate the dead and is also the time to pray for the people that have died recently but whose souls have not yet reached heaven.
Did you know Trick or Treating probably began in Europe as something called 'Souling'? Christians called at houses asking for 'soul cakes'. For each cake you gave them, they said a prayer for one of your dead family or friends.
