How to add numbers
To start with, we will add a pair of 2 digit numbers.
The hard part about adding is when there is a transfer. This happens when there is more than 10 in a column.
First, a question without a transfer:
Start by labeling the columns. You don't need to for such an easy question, but it will help later with the bigger or smaller numbers. There are two columns TENS and UNITS. We will label them T and U.
You can think of 31 as 30 and 1 if that helps
The next step is to place a + sign and draw two lines with a ruler to show where the answer will go.
