Morning 4B! 
Happy Wednesday! We have already completed two days of our virtual classroom! How amazing :) I want to thank all the children who have already contributed to our class blog and online work (14!) and I hope that more children from 4B will join us soon!

Today the suggestion is that you find time to do the following tasks just like a school day. 

9:00 Practice spelling test! 

Use this time to have a practice spelling test, like we usually do on Wednesday! (Or use your spelling strategies to write out some of your spellings)

 9:30 PE Warm up with Mr Cleary!! (YES REALLY!!!) 
Usually we go to Forest School after spelling on Wednesday. As we are unable to do that, we are going to work out with Malorees own, Mr Cleary!! You can find him on YouTube here.

10:00 Personal project
On Wednesday mornings we would be making our way to the Orchard and to Mr Pete for Forest School. Unfortunately, as we can no longer visit the orchard in Malorees this slot will be an opportunity to do something a little different. (Ms Khurana's class will also be doing the same thing!). I would like you to think of a topic/theme that you are passionate about and create a project (not online).

What you need to do:
Think of a subject/topic
Research the topic and write out the facts (in your own words!)
Decide on a title and subheadings
Create a content page
Create images to go with your writing (you can print these, or draw them!)
Decide how to present your work (coloured paper/booklet etc)

PROJECT RULES: 
Choose something you enjoy and thus would like to teach all of us about it. 
You have to hand write the whole project. This will be a weekly task, and as most of our daily learning is online, this is an excellent opportunity to practice that beautiful handwriting you have shown me over the last few weeks! When we return to school we will have a presentation of our projects; we will spend the day sharing each others passion and learning something new and random!

I look forward to seeing these. *Remember* when you decided a topic you can share it with us BUT don't post the project as this will be shared on our return! I can't wait to see all of your projects and maybe I'll make one of my own to share!

11:15 Maths
Fractions: All of our maths this week mathletics    
Log in to mathletics.com using the login details you took home last week. 
Aim to finish all your overdue homework tasks – any tasks you didn’t manage yesterday
Remember, it's important you don't just do tasks for the sake of it! 

Good learning means asking questions and clarifying if needed. Speak to an adult if you have any questions or save a J2e5 page in your 'My Files' with any questions and I can answer them! 

Then! My favourite! Times Table Rockstars!!!! – go to play.ttrockstars.com and log in. Your tasks for today are to play at least:

three sessions in the Garage
one session in the Studio
one Soundcheck

Don't forget, you can do more sessions if you want to improve your scores and earn more coins. Mr Martin has reminded me that The Studio is where you will build up your Rock Speed – you’ll be given this once you finish at least 10 Studio sessions, so if you haven’t been there yet, get rehearsing!

Again, write about your investigation of Mathletics in your new Learning Diary. Have you found anything that might help you with our Fractions topic?

12:00 Lunch

1:00 RE (Sikhism) 
Quick reminder: It's important when learning about different cultures and religion, that we are respectful and think carefully about comments we make.

Prior Learning: Sikh festivals with a focus on Bandi Chhor Divas. 
Task 1: Start by recapping the story behind the Sikhs festival, Bandi Chhor Divas (as we are not in class find a family member to be your talk partner).
If you can't remember the story use the internet to remind you. This is a really good search engine for children!
Task 2: Research the following: 
1.The history of Sikhs wearing the turban
2.Different reasons why Sikhs wear turbans
3.Reasons other people may wear turbans

Task 3: Reflect on the following questions either independently or with a family member
Q. How is the turban a Sikh person wears different
from that a turban someone else may wear?
Q. How might a Sikh wearing a turban in modern Britain feel?
Challenge:
This is a step by step guide to wearing a turban like a Sikh. 






 

2:00 Home learning diary

You have time now to write in your home learning diary. I really enjoyed reading the entries from yesterday (all 9 of you!), but I would like it even more if more children from 4B could fill them in! Here are some prompts:

What made you happy today?
Did you learn anything interesting today? If so, can you share it with us?
Have you been enjoying home learning? What's good about it? What's bad about it?
Have you been sticking to your timetable? If yes: congratulations! It's difficult to stick to new timetables and to get used to new routines! If no, what can you change about your timetable that will help make it work?
Have you talked about a new skill that you'd like to learn over the next few weeks, with your adults? (I've started gardening! Did you see my post about our garden visiter yesterday? I'm also sewing too! Maybe next week I'll start painting projects that you can do at home!)

Even if you choose to keep your diary in a real book, I'd like you to tell me about it today on j2e5, so that I know what your plans are.
 
2.15 Independent reading for pleasure

Use your Reading Journal or Learning Diary to record all your reading. I've been reading a book called 'Framed' by Frank Cottrell Boyce. I think you'll love it too!!
