Quietly, Charlie, who was only eight years old, crept through the streets as sirens rang and evil Nazi bombs dropped all over the city. Charlie was a homeless orphan living in London during World War Two. Deafeningly, enemy aircraft droned and Charlie heard the drilling of machine guns. Terrified, he thought of his friend and how he had talked about his teacher who was killed by a dreadful German bomb whilst out of the shelter during the an air-aid! Suddenly, he began to imagine dark-pink blood. Now he knew he was as endangered as a giraffe in a hunting zone.
