Tundra

______

The Tundra is a treeless place found mostly around the Arctic Circle but also can be found near Antarctica and on high mountains. The area is cold, dry and windy. Chilly snow covers the soil for nine months.

When the snow melts, the grasses, mosses and small shrubs have a short, fast growing season. The conditions are so harsh that a few animals live in the tundra all year and some animals have to move to warmer grounds. Some animals which live in the tundra are Brown bears, Reindeer, Canadian lynxes and Mountain hares.
