What is currency?
According to oxford dictionary currency means the system of money a country uses. e.g.
Euro
Rupees
Dollars
Pounds
Say if you want a pack of carrot seeds but you have nothing to give in return, and the owner would not be satisfied if they gave the seeds away for nothing in return. At this point ,if u didn't yet have/known about currency, you would trade in an object/crop. However, if this went on for years we would now then not know how we could keep our society organized . So this is when currency is needed. The reason why we should have currency/money is because it can be used to buy another object. If you buy a toy for 1 pound , the owner would be satisfied because they would be capable enough to buy a thing/s .E.g.
You go to a shop to buy a toy car. The price that you had to give was 1 pound . The 1 pound ,after the object is been bought, could be used to by another thing /object.
What we did ?
To express why currency is needed some of us brought in monopoly ,as asked the previous day. We were all given the same amount of money as told on the instructions. We all took turns rolling the dice . Sometimes we had to pay the person who owned land or house/hotel. After lunch, we continued with our game at the end . The person with the most amount of money including the value of their Land, won . At the end we talked about why the money was important .Most of
us thought that it was important. This is because ,if you had no money you wont be able to buy land or pay other peoples land , if landed on .
The next activity we did was make the appearance of our money. Some tables agreed on making the same money others made their own and decided the money that should be taken in for the vote .When all moneys were handed in we made a tally on the side of what we thought was good. At the end we ended up with a mixed appearance of some of the money . There were some bits that were picked out . After that , we had to vote for a name ,we came out with Scorpio/s .
I enjoyed this week of micro-society and I cant wait for the next sessions we do.
