Challenge

Next week our learning theme will be

‘Jack and the Beanstalk’.

Please share this story with your child then discuss with them the morals of taking things from others!

Please spend time with your child comparing sizes of objects and using mathematical language such as longer, taller, shorter, wider and narrower etc.

Also, discuss ways of measuring using non-standard units, for example how hands are used to measure horses. This will support your child’s learning when we compare the size of Jack and the Giant, as well as comparing and measuring our feet using non-standard units, in our case multi-link cubes!

We will be making a Giant and a Jack for our display and a beanstalk using a range of media. We will explore what happens when we mix the primary colours yellow and blue to paint the leaves and the stalk. At the beginning of the week the children will also be planting seeds and we will begin recording their growth.
