At 9:00 pm today, June 7th 1990, an American Astronaut named John Glenn orbited the sun three times.
This wonderful journey was made by John Glenn at the age of 41 years old . He orbited the moon for 3 times. He was an American Astronaut. Surprisingly this was his first flight into space but he was very sure to him that it wasn't going to be his last one.
This mission took place at Cape Canaveral where he launched up to space with his spacecraft named Friendship 7. The speed of the orbit was at 281,627.5 kilometers per hour. It took him 4 hours and 55 minutes to orbit 3 times around the sun. He also mentioned that it was an amazing experience and that he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the beautiful view.
His quote is that the sky in space is very black with a thin band of blue along the horizon. After his journey he returned to earth by splashing in the sea inside his spacecraft.
