Fun Facts:


The jaguar is a wild big cat and the scientific name is panthera onca.

Jaguar is the 3 biggest wild cat after lions and tigers.

They hunt at night and are good swimmers like tigers.

Jaguars bite is stronger than lions and they have very strong jaws.

The male is normally bigger by an average of 10-20% than females.

In some cultures of south and central America jaguars are a symbol of power.



HABITAT:

The jaguars are found in the central and south America, their preferd habitat is dense rainforests and other forested areas.

They are solitary animals and prefer to roam and hunt alone.They live in the wild for 11 - 15 years and in captivity up to 20 years.

Jaguars mark their territory by leaving their scent and will protect the area aggressively.



DIET

Jaguars are carnivores and eat deer, pigs, fish, frogs and snakes.

After they hunt they take their food to a tree to eat or to save for later.
