We have had lots of fun this week celebrating Chinese New year and I do hope you agree, we have been seeing great progress with reading and writing skills lately. A great big thank you to all of you who continue to support your child's learning at home. It is making a real difference and it is such a pleasure to see the children grow in confidence and skill. Thank you for bringing in all the work you did at home too. The work is now proudly displayed in the classroom.

Next week we will be learning all about traditional toys, puppets and games. We will be making our own puppets and toys, sorting old and new toys and discussing what makes them work.

In maths we are learning all about capacity and will be using the words full, half full and empty. In phonics we will be reading words with the sounds air and ure and we will be practicing our skills with sound buttons.

Internet Safety Day is on Tuesday. We will be discussing safety on the internet. If you would like some help to educate your child about safety on the internet, there is a lovely story on You Tube from the Smarty Penguin series we are using in school. If you want to use it at home just copy the link below;

We would like to make a sock puppet with your child, if you can bring in an old, clean sock for them to make into a puppet we will help your child create a sock puppet to take home.

Our Challenge

This week we thought you may like a choice. There are two options. Make a choice!

Option 1

We will send home instructions to make a traditional toy. To make it , you only need a paper or plastic cup, string and some foil or scrunched up paper. Can yo make it? Can you swing the ball into the cup?

Option 2

Play nougats and crosses with your child. We will send a set of instructions home. Please send completed nougats and crosses to school so we can celebrate the work you are doing at home.

Reminders

*Please continue to write in your child's Reading Record Book. We find your comments useful. Please return any books you still have at home. We still have a few outstanding books that have not yet been returned.
