Hagar Qim
Hagar Qim is over 5000 years old and
was found in Hagar Qim. The Statuette
(Venus of Malta) was found inside of
there and is now in a museum. It is
covered by a tent to protect it from the
weather and is now taken care by
UNESCO.
Imnajdra
Imnajdra is also over 5000 years and
is found in Imnajdra. Inside the
temple altars were seen there for
sacrifice. It is 5600 years old to be
exact(3600 B.C). Just like Hagar Qim
it is protected by a tent from the
weathers.
Ggantija
It is over 5000 years old and is found in
Xaghra, Gozo. In that time it was used for praying and sacrifices, but today it is used for tourism. Archeologists found 2 holes in the standing blocks. Those holes are tethering holes for a cattle.
Tarxien Temples
This temple is over 5000 years old and is
located in Tarxien. Archeologists found
a half statue of a god who people in 3600
B.C believe in. Archeologists found also
carving and spirals of bulls, pigs and goats.
UNESCO takes care of the temple now.
Hypogeum
This Temple is not like any other
temples in Malta because this
one is built underground as a
tomb, but it is also used for
praying. It dates back to 4000
B.C. It is found in Poala, Has-
Saflieni. Red paintings of spirals
and honeycomb patterns were
found on the ceiling. The spirals
represent an eternity, which is
for the dead people. Besides,
red paintings archeologists found
a statue of a sleeping lady. This
statue is called 'The Sleeping Lady.
Experts interpret that this
statue is the mother goddess to
which the neolithic people believed
in.
