JULIA'S DIARY
Wearily, I stretched and clambered down the ladder, (I was on holiday and was sleeping in a bunk bed) before hearing:"What are you doing?"(My younger brother was sleeping in the bottom bunk)"Opening the curtains" I replied shortly. "But it's to early" He moaned "No it's not- it's quarter to seven!" I cried indignantly. Two hours passed quickly as James (My brother) and I moaned while we packed and tidied our room (We were going home today after we had gone to the hawk conservancy) before having breakfast. Very soon after this, we set off, it took forty minutes, but it was worth it and on the way, went past Stonehenge.
Marvelling, James and I gazed longingly at the toys in the gift shop while my Dad went to get a trail sheet. First we went to admire the vultures before a lady came to feed and talk about the vultures. Unfortunately, half of one of the vulture's wing had been injured and wasn't there-I feel sorry for him-don't you?
Soon 11:30 arrived so we ran to one of the display areas where a show was to take place. The first bird was an African type-of-owl which flew to different places around the display area, collecting up the food and gobbling it up. Bird after bird performed until 2-3 meerkats peeped out from behind 2 rocks before they did a duck race where there were 6 ducks (real) who tried to waddle the fastest to the salad. One duck won by a long way but she didn't seem to mind sharing so they all tucked in! Last of all, there was a secretary bird (a large bird with 30 cm long legs which rarely flies so it stamps on it's prey-mostly snakes) who had been performing for 20 YEARS!
Afterwards, I rushed over to hold a BEAUTIFUL snowy owl while my auntie took a photo of me. To pass time before lunch, we continued on our trail sheet which was where we had to find 8 giant, golden eggs with a letter to find a jumbled up word. soon 12:15 arrived so we (my 5 year old brother-James, dad, mum, aunt, uncle, 2 year old cousin-India, 1 year old cousin-Sebastian and nanny) went for lunch on the sun-heated hill.
The first bird in this show was The AMAZING Perigrine falcon-the fastest animal in the WORLD! He, the perigrine falcon was meant to dive at 200 mph but it got distracted by another bird and ate it, finishing after the end of the show! After the perigrine falcon, some vultures flew right over our heads and the baby one got confused and walked casually along the row behind us! Last of all, some kites performed and some wild red kites saw and joined in!!!
