For the challenge we ask that you support your child to sort some fruits and vegetables. Whilst they are sorting the items please talk about their characteristics such as whether they contain seeds, where they grow and of course their colour. Please then support your child to find out one fact about harvest. This may be posted on the blog or sent in via your child’s wallet. If you would like to send in pictures of the fruit and vegetable sorting you can email them to the following address and we will share them in class next week:

We look forward to sharing all of your wonderful challenge work.
Next week the children will be singing our Harvest song, ‘Dingle Dangle Scarecrow’ to the rest of the school in the Harvest Festival assembly. We have been practising this week and the children sound fantastic!
As part of our Autumn theme we will be sharing Nick Butterworth’s, ‘The Hedgehogs Balloon’. The children will then have a choice of media to make their own hedgehog. In the outdoor area there will also be the opportunity to help to make a hedgehog shelter to help protect any local hedgehogs through the autumn and winter.
In keeping with our Autumn and Harvest theme, and as pumpkins are now in season, we will be sharing the beautifully illustrated story ‘Pumpkin Soup’, by Helen Cooper. We will of course be cooking a batch or two as well.
The children in Foundation 2 will listen to the story of Rama and Sita and will explore the Diwali festival through a range of activities including role play, dancing, bridge making and pattern.
We look forward to talking with you about your child’s start to the academic year at our Parent’s Evenings next week. Please speak to a member of staff if you have not yet booked your appointment.
