Our trip to the Royal Courts of Justice
On Monday the 9th of February 2015, year 4 ,at Ashmount Primary School,
took a trip to the Royal Courts of Justice.
The Royal Courts of Justice were opened on
December 4th, 1882, by Queen Victoria. The courts
helped to create a fair system for justice.
We learnt about the differnt types of courts.
The High Court, Crown court and Court of Appeal.
In the court of appeal, if you have been charged
with a crime, you can have your case heard again.
We were given parts in an invented case.
We had to perform a play where John
Henry Wainman was accused of theft. He
had apparently stolen a jacket and some other items.
I got the part as the clerk and my friend got the part as the judge. At the end of the trial the jury had decided that Mr John Henry Wainman was found not guilty. The reason why I enjoyed being the clerk was because I had the opportunity to sit in a comfy chair right under the judge!
