St Paul of Tarsus



His original name was Saul, he was born in 9AD in Tarsus Cilcia which is now Turkey. He was a persecutor of the followers of Jesus which means he killed all those who were Christians or who believed in God. One day while he was riding his horse, A bright beam of light from the sky shone directly on his face.

It was God, God told him ''Saul why are you persecuting me. When God stopped talking to him he became blind because of the bright light!. But after 3 days someone healed him. Saul heard what God had told him and he decided to become a disciple of God and then he started to preach the word of God!.

When he became a preacher he changed his name to Paul. The Romans didn't like that Paul was a Christian. So they planned to kill him but it didn't Work. Then one day he was being taken to Rome to be judged and to be tried as a political rebel. He left from Jerusalem on a ship, on that ship were a few soldiers and Luke. They were heading north and on their way to Rome, Their was a big storm an the waves were very high. All the people on board threw all their anchors and their water and food off the ship so it would become lighter and wouldn't sink.

Then the storm crashed the ship on a rock and everyone swam to shore. the arrived on an island. The people of this island told them that It was Malta. When they were on Malta Paul said that the people showed them kindness, and they lit a bonfire because they knew he was feeling cold. As the fire was lit Paul went to get more sticks as he was throwing them into the fire a poisonous snake bit Paul and at first the people thought he was a killer .Paul just shook his hand and the snake fell into the fire. When that happened the the people thought he was some sort of god.

The Roman Governor of Malta was Publius at the time. His father was sick with fever and was brought in front of Paul, who placed his hand on the sick man and healed him. He also preached about God and told all the people about him. After Three months they left Malta and headed to Rome. They stayed in Rome for three years then they beheaded him and they say that the 3 spots were his head bounced water came out!
