First man to orbit the earth

John Glenn, a 41 year
old astronaut, attempted
the mission to orbit
the Earth. He was
the oldest astronaut to
ever go in space! The
Friendship 7 launched
on February 20th 1962
in the site of Cape Caraveral.
He orbited the Earth
three times in 4 hours and
55 minutes! The mission was
successful. John Glenn was
an American astronaut who
attempted the mission to
orbit Earth. He was 41 years
old and the oldest
astronaut to ever launch
into space. He worked
for NASA. After his career
he became a politition,
this is his story.
On February 20th 1962,
John Glenn was preparing
to launch into space
to complete the mission
to orbit Earth. The speed of
the space craft was going
at a precise speed of 281,627.5
kilometers per hour.
He spent 4 hours and 55 minutes in
space. One of his
quotes is: 'The sky in space is very black with a thin band of blue along the horizon'. For the landing he had to splash into the open, crystal blue sea, while still in the space craft and then he
landed safely on Earth.
