1. The life cycle of an ant has four main stages.
2. The larvae hatch out of an egg and they shed their skin several times.
3. Most ants spin a silken cocoon around their bodies and rest inside until they grow into adults.
4. A nurse ant bites a hole at one end of the cocoon as soon as a pupa is ready to come out, a tiny ant then comes out.
5. The nurse ant feeds and washes the baby ant.
6. Some ants live up to 15 years but most of them live between 6 to 10 weeks.
