Foundation 2
20.1.22
As well as lots of fabulous activities to celebrate World Religion Day on Monday, this week, we have read Kippers Toy Box by Mick Inkpen. We have been sorting old and new toys and making our own using recyclable materials. We have also been learning all about odd and even numbers and made pictures using ice cubes!

Next week we will be Reading the book, The Toys Party which is a book from the Oxford Reading Tree Scheme. We will be making Kippers cakes, which is a mush up with Ketchup! We will also be making cakes for a toy party.
We will be learning all about weight and weighing items to see if they are heavier or lighter. In phonics we will be learning the sounds from stage 3 and reading words that contain the sounds or, er, ur and ow.
Our Challenge
Can you play one or all these suggested party games with family or friends?
Musical Statues .
Get the kids boogying to their favourite tunes, and when the music stops they must freeze.
Sleeping Lions
The aim of the game is to remain motionless even with the adult walking around, and perhaps telling jokes. Anyone who itches, wriggles or giggles is out.
Kim’s Game:
Lay a tray with a mix of objects from toy figures to random items like sticky tape or a spoon. Cover the tray with a tea towel. Allow the children a minute or two to look at the tray (no touching allowed!) before covering it back up. The one who remembers the most items is the winner.
Simon Says
Select someone to be the leader – or ‘Simon’ – and get them to stand in front of the rest of the group The leader must then call out actions (raise your hand, sit down etc.) for the group to copy, saying ‘Simon says…’ before hand. Once they say an action without saying ‘Simon says…’ first, the children must not copy the action, anyone who does the action will be out of the game.
Reminders
- Please read the targets for your child sent in the Reading Bag this week and help your child achieve them this term. Keep them in the plastic wallet provided and make your comments in the space provide on the target form. We have included a few information sheets that may help.
- Thank you for reading with your children at home. We are so proud of their progress so far and think we need to thank all of you for your continued support. Could we please ask you to make sure you add a comment in their Reading Record Book when you hear them read as we do read your comments, they are very helpful.
