Coching Chu was born in China Shangyu, on March 7

1890 and died in 1974, because of a terrible lung disease.

He studied meteorology for most of his life. Meteorology

means studying the atmosphere and weather. He studied at

the University of Illinois and graduated in 1913. He was assigned vice

president of Chinese Academy of Sciences on 16 October 1949. In

1955, he was elected academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
