About 2500 years ago,Greece was one of the most important place in the world with people from countries such as Italy,Sicily,Turkey,North Africa and France who were all Greek(besides Greece and Greek Islands).They called themselves Hellenes and their land was called Hellas. The Greeks stuck with their spectacular ideas and led lives that our similar to the ones we have today!

ANCIENT GREEK HOMES

Ancient Greek homes were usually built around a garden or courtyard,their walls were often made of wood and they only had small windows with no glass.People sat on wooden chairs and it was believed that rich people decorated their wall and floors with colourful tiles and beautiful paintings.The vast majority of homes didn't include bathrooms,as they had public bathrooms.Nonetheless,rich people had their slaves carry water and enjoyed their baths at home.

ANCIENT GREEK BENEFITS

Many of the things we use today,were actually invented by the Greeks!The Greeks gave the world democracy,which we still use in Britain today,to choose who runs the country.In Ancient Athens citizens met regularly to vote on the laws that change their everyday lives.(A simple show of hands).Unfortunately,women,slaves and foreigners were banned from voting. :( The Greeks invented many useful things like:Mathematics,Sculpture,Science and medicine.They used all their knowledge to invent fascinating things such as the water wheel,alarm clock,catapult and vending machines.
